Georgie Campbell racing in Liverpool last weekend. It's another fairly short newsletter this week. Last weekend saw Georgie Campbell and Alex Adams, two of our top young endurance runners, competing in the latest of the British Athletics Cross Challenge Series in Liverpool. There's a fabulous report from Seth Turner on his recent trail running in Mauritius and great reading it makes too. There's a bit of a plug for the club's online shop and finally a few photos from last Sunday morning's Junior Endurance Group's sub-zero training session on the Welcombe Hills. Good luck and congratulations to the latest Couch to 5k group who will complete their course by graduating at Saturday's parkrun. Good luck also to all of the seniors' who are competing in Saturday's XC fixture on the Welcombe Hills and also to all of our junior XC runners competing at Wolverhampton on Sunday. It's going to be chilly! Take care Best Wishes David Jones View this email in your browser Alex Adams also in Liverpool. British Athletics Cross Challenge Liverpool - 27th November. Report - Paul Hawkins The 2021/2022 British Athletics Cross Challenge Series has returned this winter, as the UK’s best cross country athletes take part in the five event series which culminates in Loughborough for the final next March. Teardrop Lakes in Milton Keynes has been an ever-present fixture in the series since 2015 and hosted the second set of races in the series on Saturday 13 November. This was an important test for athletes just two weeks ahead of the Liverpool event which hosted the European Cross Country Championship trials. The Sefton Park event was on 27 November and is a staple in the cross country calendar as the best athletes across the country battle it out to book their spot on the plane to Dublin for this year’s European Championships on 12 December. Georgie Campbell and Alex Adams, two of our very best endurance runners both raced at Milton Keynes as preparation for the Liverpool event. In Liverpool, Alex finished in 30th place in the U17 mens event, with a couple of runners just ahead of him being given the same time. He was just 24 seconds off a top 20 place. He commented "It was a very fast race that took it out of me from the start. The pace never slowed. In a sprint finish I overtook 3/4 other runners. It was disappointing for me, especially when you look at the results " Me thinks he's being a little bit harsh on himself. For the U17 Men's results please follow the link below. Bear in mind Alex was only 16 a couple of weeks ago. https://results.sporthive.com/events/6870310191559753728/races/11 In the World Athletics U20 women's race, Georgie Campbell finished in 39th place with a time of 16.24, just 16 seconds shy of a top 20 place For Georgie's result please follow the link below: https://results.sporthive.com/events/6870310191559753728/races/10 Very well done to both of them.
