World Beating.

Georgie Campbell about to cross the line in her 800m personal best performance of 2:18.29 at The Pingles Stadium last Sunday. It's a somewhat shorter newsletter this week but it nonetheless contains some truly impressive performances across all age groups and across several disciplines. You can read about the truly world beating performances of Paula Williams in the Virtual World Masters Championships. There were PBs, SBs and club records by members at the latest Open Event at The Pingles Stadium last Sunday and we saw a plethora of outstanding individual and team performances in July's vWRRL mile event. Have great weekend. It's going to be hot! Best Wishes David Jones. Paula Williams. 2020 Worldwide Virtual Masters Report - David Jones. Paula Williams took part in the recently completed 2020 Worldwide Virtual Masters Championships where she was competing against athletes from all over the world. Paula competed in the 80m hurdles, Triple Jump, Shot Put and Javelin and according to the provisional results she enjoyed considerable success in all 4 events. She was placed 2nd in the hurdles with a time of 12.8 seconds and she was also runner up in the shot, with a throw of 11.22, just 11 centimetres short of her PB. She was on top of the world in both the triple jump and javelin, finishing in 1st place in both events and winning by a considerable margin in both. Paula won the triple jump with a jump of 10.10m some 2.5 metres ahead of the next placed athlete. In the Javelin her throw of 36.77m was a season's best performance and almost 4 metres ahead of the next placed athlete. As both of her shot and javelin performances were part of an officially organised event they will qualify as official world ranking performances. Truly impressive. Well done Paula. On the track we were represented by both the young and the old. Despite having to cope with the unfamiliar challenge of running the whole of the 800m in lanes, David Jones seems to be rolling back the years, running a season’s best time of 2:48.96, just two seconds outside his PB set back in 2014. With another couple of events this month, he is hoping for a new PB and to retain his current number 1 national ranking in his age group for this year. At the other end of the age spectrum, Georgie Campbell and Emily Field were both running in the 800m and they both found the stagger difficult. They were both drawn in lane 7 so were approximately 70 metres from the start line at the start of the race. Georgie ran her usual superb race, finishing in a PB time of 2:18.29,…
