One Club with One Voice.
It seems as though not a week goes by without club member and Cardiff University student Cadie Hibberd achieving a PB. On Wednesday, competing in the Welsh Endurance Meeting at Carmarthen, she knocked 25 seconds off her previous best time in the 5000m, by recording a time of 19:00.10. What have you got planned this week Cadie ? For Cadie Hibberd and Ben Kruze it's been a case of another week, another PB and in Ben's case a new club record for the half marathon. This week also saw the culmination of what must have been the strangest ever Tempo Winter Series, a series that resulted in Matt Burdus-Cook recording his second consecutive series win. Well done Matt. I'm indebted to Sarah Bland for her report. Mike Sheppard brings us up to date with the T&F club records that have been broken in May so far and there is a lovely group photo of some of our senior endurance runners enjoying their Wednesday night club run again. We also have a really interesting initiative from Louise Stewart and Amy Rowe, the aim of which seems to emphasise the fact that, as they say: "We are a club for everyone - of any ability, ambition or age" They go on to say: "We'd like to give you a chance to get to know each other if your paths haven’t crossed yet" The single greatest reason I produce this newsletter is so that members of the junior section know and are hopefully inspired by what the senior members are doing and senior members know and are equally inspired what our hard working, committed and talented juniors are up to. As far as I am concerned we are not a Junior Club, a Senior Club and a Triathlon Club. We are a single entity. As Paul Bearman says, we should aim to be One Club with One Voice. Thank you Louise and Amy. Good luck to those of you who are competing in the Youth Development League in Nuneaton on Monday and also to those competing at the Restart Open in Cheltenham on Saturday. This meeting gives athletes wishing to attain English Schools standards the chance to compete and also a chance for them to enjoy an early season competition with spectators. Indeed good luck to any of you competing anywhere in the next 7 days. Finally congratulations are due to club stalwart Danny Tolhurst on his appointment working for England Athletics as Participation Officer, looking after their national Run Together (adults) and Funetics (ages 4-11) projects. Much deserved Danny. Best wishes David Jones View this email in your browser Another club member who just seems to go from strength to strength is Ben Kruze. On 16th May he was just 4 seconds off the club's half marathon record when he ran a time of 1:12.54. Last weekend he won the Dorney Lake Half Marathon in a club record time of 1:11.06, knocking 94 seconds of the previous record. His time places him…
